the CW Network's 2006 TCA Press Tour Party, Neptunesite's Craig
Byrne was fortunate enough to catch up with some actors from Veronica
Mars and get some interview material that hopefully the readers
of this site will enjoy.
In
addition to catching some quotes from Ryan
Hansen (Dick Casablancas), we were able to do a brief interview
with Jason Dohring, better known as most fans' favorite Veronica
suitor, Logan Echolls. Jason talked with us about Season 2, and
what is coming in Logan's future. Enjoy!
Was
it annoying to you last season when Logan and Veronica were not
together?
No.
Not really. Because, dude, the snarkiness doesn't work without
the love underneath. It's always there, you know what I mean?
It's always been there, because I think the bigger the love there
is in the first place, the bigger the break-up is.
So,
it's always cool, even when we're playing those scenes where we're
against each other, we're always - I'm in love with her.
Is
Logan's life going to change a lot with the death of his father?
I
think so, dude. I really do. I've been thinking about this, because
it was such a suppressive influence for him, so I think with all
this money, it's kinda like, here we go, we're gonna start a new
life, which I think could add another facet to the character.
Is
Logan going to college with everybody else?
Yes,
he will be. I think he's just going 'cause Veronica's going. I
know he doesn't take a lot of classes at the beginning. But we'll
see how it goes.
What
did you think of the second season in general?
I
mean, just honestly? I didn't like it as much as the first.
At
the end of every episode of the first season, I was like "Oh
my God, man!" And there was one episode in particular on
the second season that I felt that, and I was like "Dude,
we gotta do that."
Which
one was that?
Where
Meg found out she was pregnant at the end, with the Trina and
stuff like that, 'cause there were so many twists. Bam, bam, bam.
I thought that was f-ckin' cool. I really dug that.
It
was a little incoherent from an audience's point of view. Like
we jumped around or didn't talk about it for a couple episodes,
and then came back to the bus crash.
[Regarding
Season 3] I think - I hope we're gonna get some really good
ones, man. I know there's some good stuff in the very first episode.
Some sh-t goes down.
I
hear they're doing multiple mysteries this year?
Yeah.
Dude, it's gonna be much better. I think we might have a couple
overall arcs, but for the most part, it'll be 7 episode chunk
season mysteries.
Do
you think we'll ever see Logan's mom again, or is she--?
I
think she's dead.
Where
would you like to see Logan go?
I
would love to see him as a freshman, kind of out of his element,
because kids are really picking on him, and sh-t like that, and
he's gotta climb out of that sh-t. I would love that. And then,
I'd love to see some stuff with Veronica. I'd love to get involved
in some tense-@$$ sh-it. You know, like, I thought it would have
been cool to get mixed up with the Fitzpatricks. Like as a role
model, he takes on that guy, that'd be dope. We'll see.
Do
you have any messages for the fans?
Thank
you SO much. I can't communicate it. I wish you could hear my
voice, because that's where - just from the bottom of my heart,
it's f-ckin' awesome. You guys are the reason we're still around,
so thank you so much, and we'll continue to do what we're doing.
