Another
person we caught up with at The CW's night of the Winter 2007
TCA Press Tour was Chris Lowell, better known to Veronica
Mars addicts as Piz.
We
asked him about what's coming up for his character, and he gave
some insights regarding his own theories as the first mystery
progressed.
Some
spoilers for the first mystery arc as well as some minor spoilers
for upcoming episodes are within.
Many
fans of Piz are wondering if he'll ever get together with Veronica.
Do you think it should happen?
You
know, I think it's the classic argument of the good guy that you
want to take home to mom, or sort of the bad boy. And quite frankly,
you know, I think she's sick of the bad boy. I think she needs
a little good old fashioned romance and kindness. But then again,
by that same measure, I personally think I am the biggest fan
of Logan and Veronica together. So it's tough. It's a little give
and get.
Had
you been a fan of Veronica Mars before you signed on?
Yeah.
I go to USC, so all of my friends would watch this show, and it
had this big cult following, [because] it wasn't like a lot of
shows on television, and then I finally got to see it last year,
and I was like "Dude. This show is friggin' awesome."
Then, when my managers called and they're like "There's a
spot opening," I had to do it.
Can
you hint anything that might be coming up for your character?
I
think Piz really hits sort of a low point, but I think he really
starts to grow a back bone, the next time you see him. He falls
hard, but when he gets back up, it's with a whole new confidence.
I think it's going to carry him through some big adventures on
the show.
Had
you figured out the first mystery before it had been solved or
before you got the scripts?
I
was convinced it was Moe. We were doing this one scene where I
was just saying the lines, and the producers were like "You
need to emphasize that Moe has all the keys," and I was like
"Okay. Noted." But I had no idea about Mercer. That
was a nice twist.
At
any point did you think that Piz might have done it?
I
asked if I could be the rapist, and they wouldn't let me. They
were like "no, no, no, no, no." And then I was like,
"can I at least get raped, so I can get a haircut?"
I was hoping so bad that they would shave my head, and that didn't
happen either. So, frankly, they don't listen to anything I say
on that show. Can't win 'em all.
