Biography of Sydney Tamiia Poitier Her first film role was in Sterling Macer Jr.s "Park Day," which won the Audience Award at the 1998 Urbanworld International Film Festival. She followed that in 1999 with the made-for-television film "Free of Eden," playing the lead opposite her father and Phylicia Rashad. In March 1999, she appeared in her first studio film, "True Crime," directed by Clint Eastwood. Poitier later starred opposite John Goodman in Helen Mirrens directing debut "Happy Birthday." In television, Poitier played the title role of Abby Walker in the UPN comedy "Abby," and was a series regular on the legal series "First Years," opposite Samantha Mathis. Poitier also starred in John Irvins epic mini-series "Noahs Ark," opposite Academy Award winners Jon Voight, Mary Steenburgen and F. Murray Abraham. Poitier currently lives in Los Angeles. Some
